Topsy’s Popcorn & Ice Cream Leaving East Hills After Decades, Moving to North Village
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — After more than half a century at East Hills Shopping Center, Topsy’s Popcorn & Ice Cream is preparing to move to a new location in St. Joseph.

Topsy’s St. Joseph has operated at East Hills since the 1960s, according to general manager Rhiannan Hammett, making the business a longtime fixture of the shopping center.
Hammett said Topsy’s and its staff have enjoyed being part of East Hills, but the decision to relocate ultimately came down to business.
The company considered several potential locations around St. Joseph before choosing the Shoppes at North Village.
Topsy’s is expected to open its new location in mid-October at 5301 N. Belt Highway, Suite 103, in the former GameStop space between Panda Express and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
The move comes as changes are also underway inside East Hills Shopping Center.
In recent months, a wall has been constructed across a walkway separating two sections of the mall. Signage near the wall references plans for an expo center.
For generations of St. Joseph shoppers, Topsy’s has been a familiar presence at East Hills.
While its time at the mall is coming to an end, the business will remain in St. Joseph as it begins its next chapter at North Village.
