Kansas City Chiefs to Keep Training Camp in St. Joseph for at Least Five More Years
The Kansas City Chiefs have confirmed they will continue holding training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for the next five years, ensuring the city remains the team's summer home through at least the 2030 season.

The announcement came as the Chiefs returned to the practice field in St. Joseph, where team officials also revealed progress on plans for the organization's future headquarters and training complex.
Chiefs President Mark Donovan addressed questions about the long-term future of training camp following the team's previously announced plans to relocate its headquarters and build a new stadium and training facility in Kansas beginning in 2031.
While the new training facility in Olathe will be designed with the capability to host training camp, Donovan emphasized that no final decision has been made about moving camp from St. Joseph.
"We have to have that option," Donovan said. "Who knows where we'll be in five years."
According to Donovan, the decision on where training camp will be held beyond 2030 will depend on several factors, including the preference of the team's head coach at that time.
Despite plans for a new Kansas-based facility, St. Joseph remains a strong contender to continue hosting the annual training camp after 2031. Donovan said the organization expects to revisit the decision around the fourth or fifth year of the current agreement.
For now, the extension provides certainty for the St. Joseph community, Missouri Western State University, local businesses, and thousands of fans who travel to the city each summer to watch the Chiefs prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
The Chiefs have held training camp at Missouri Western since 2010, making it one of the longest-running partnerships between an NFL team and a host community. The annual event generates significant economic activity for St. Joseph through hotel stays, restaurant visits, shopping, and tourism while giving fans a close-up look at one of the NFL's premier franchises.
