Savannah Aquatic Center Receives $100,000 Grant for Renovations

The effort to renovate the Savannah Aquatic Center received a major boost this week after a $100,000 grant was awarded through a partnership between Nodaway Valley Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

The funding was made possible through the Andrew County Aquatics Initiative, with northwest Missouri-based Nodaway Valley Bank (NVB) securing a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB) through its Member Impact Fund.

NVB initially committed $25,000, and through the fund's three-to-one matching program, that contribution grew into a $100,000 investment for the project.

Nodaway Valley Bank CEO James G. Robinson said the bank was proud to support a project that will benefit local families for years to come.

"Nodaway Valley Bank recognizes the importance of Savannah's municipal swimming pool and is pleased to be able to help fund its renovation so it can continue to serve the community for years to come."

The announcement was shared by Nodaway Valley Bank on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri serves as the nonprofit umbrella organization for the Andrew County Aquatics Initiative, allowing tax-deductible donations to be accepted and managed as fundraising efforts continue.

Municipal swimming pools often serve as more than just recreational facilities. They provide swimming lessons for children, a place to cool off during the summer, and opportunities for families to gather. Renovating and maintaining these facilities can help ensure they remain safe and accessible for future generations.
