United Way Seeks Volunteers to Help Assemble 900 Meal Kits in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — United Way of Greater St. Joseph is looking for volunteers to help assemble 900 meal kits that will be distributed to families facing food insecurity across Northwest Missouri.

Three Caring Connection volunteer sessions are scheduled this month at the United Way office, located at 118 S. 5th St. in St. Joseph.

Volunteer sessions will be held:

Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 17 at 9 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.

The meal kits will be distributed through local partner agencies, churches and other organizations serving families throughout the area.

“Back-to-school season can bring added expenses and stress for families already working to make ends meet,” United Way President Kylee Strough said. “These Meal Kits are one simple way we can help ease that burden and make sure our neighbors have food available when they need it.”

The project is being supported by Mosaic Life Care and the Mosaic Life Care Foundation.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome, including individuals, families and workplace groups.

Volunteers will help sort supplies, assemble meal kits and prepare them for distribution.
