Camaro Heavily Damaged in Suspected Overnight Arson in St. Joseph
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — A St. Joseph resident is asking the community for information after a Chevrolet Camaro was heavily damaged by fire overnight in what the owner’s family believes may have been intentionally set.

According to a post shared in the St. Joseph MO Community Alert Facebook group, the fire occurred at approximately 2 a.m. in a back alley near Penn Street.
Photos shared by the resident show extensive fire damage throughout the vehicle. Much of the Camaro’s exterior is burned and blackened, with particularly severe damage around the front and passenger compartment.
The resident said the Camaro belonged to her boyfriend and that he and his son had planned to rebuild the car, making the loss especially difficult for the family.

She also reported that three teenage boys were seen walking in the area around the time of the incident, including one described as taller, thin and blond. At this point, however, there is no publicly confirmed information establishing that those individuals were involved in the fire.
The circumstances surrounding the blaze and whether authorities have officially determined the cause of the fire were not immediately available.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Penn Street area around the time of the fire or who may have relevant security-camera footage is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
St. Joseph Community Alert will update this story if additional information becomes available.
