Drivers traveling through St. Joseph should expect delays Monday as the Missouri Department of Transportation closes the northbound Interstate 29 bridge over U.S. Route 36 for maintenance work.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, and continue until approximately 4:30 p.m.
As part of the work, MoDOT will also close the northbound I-29 ramp to westbound U.S. 36 and the eastbound U.S. 36 ramp to northbound I-29.
Northbound I-29 will also be reduced to one lane between mile markers 45.8 and 46.2, which could cause additional congestion in the area.
Motorists who normally use the affected ramps or bridge are encouraged to plan ahead and use an alternate route while the work is underway.
MoDOT reminds drivers to buckle up, avoid distractions behind the wheel, and slow down and move over when traveling through work zones.
