Frederick Avenue Closures Planned as Spire Begins Major Pipeline Project

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Drivers along Frederick Avenue should prepare for several weeks of closures and detours beginning in early September.

Spire plans

to begin replacing natural gas infrastructure along Frederick Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Work will take place between 22nd Street and Fairleigh Terrace as crews install upgraded natural gas mains serving homes and businesses in the area.

The project is expected to result in staged road closures and detours for approximately four weeks.

Several intersections are expected to be affected, including Frederick Avenue at Fairleigh Terrace, North 26th Street, North 25th Street, North 24th Street and North 22nd Street.

Spire says traffic-control measures and detour signs will be placed throughout the construction zone.

Because Frederick Avenue is one of St. Joseph’s major east-west routes, drivers traveling through the area may want to allow additional time or consider alternate routes once construction begins.

Motorists are also being asked to slow down and use additional caution around crews and equipment.
