Drivers traveling through the intersection of South Riverside Road and Pickett Road in St. Joseph should prepare for delays next week as crews complete traffic signal and signage upgrades.

St. Joseph MO News Pickett riverside

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) plans to perform the work Monday, Aug. 17, and Tuesday, Aug. 18, during daylight hours.

During the project, traffic signals at the intersection of Buchanan County Route AC, also known as South Riverside Road, and Pickett Road will temporarily be turned off. While the signals are dark, drivers should treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Crews will replace the existing signal cabinets and make upgrades to the traffic lights, including the addition of flashing yellow arrows for vehicles making left turns. Signage around the intersection will also be replaced as part of the project.

Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to slow down, pay close attention to other vehicles and workers, and allow additional time for possible delays.

The work is weather-dependent, and the schedule could change if conditions prevent crews from completing the upgrades as planned.
